North Herts Inter Faith Forum Reception at Letchworth Dhamma Nikethanaya Buddhist Cultural Centre

North Hertfordshire Inter-Faith Forum hosted an exclusive Inter-Faith Reception 2012 to Introduce Buddhism & Letchworth Buddhist Cultural Centre on Thursday 26th April 2012 at 7PM till 9PM. The aim was to grow together and learn with and from each others’ culture.

 

LETCHWORTH    INTER   FAITH   RECEPTION   2012

The Reception aims to provide opportunities to grow together within a framework of respect for each others’ faiths. To promote understanding by sharing. To learn with and from each others’ culture:

Letchworth Interfaith Reception 2012 was held at Dhamma Nikethanaya Buddhist Cultural Centre, Letchworth on 26th April 2012. Venerable Akurala Samitha, head of the Centre organized this reception to strengthen the relationship and understanding among the faith groups in North Hertfordshire. Over 40 members representing different faith groups were attended.

Venerable Akurala Samitha has been an outstanding member of North Hertfordshire Interfaith Forum (NHIFF) for over 8 years, standing as a committee member. Venerable Akurala Samitha welcomed all the members very humbly to the Buddhist Cultural Centre. He outlined briefly the contributions of the centre as a community centre. All the participants greatly appreciated the welcome speech with the PowerPoint presentation explaining the history and community contributions of the centre, Buddhism as a way of life and meditation for mental and physical well-being in daily life, delivered by Venerable Akurala Samitha.

The Chairman of North Herts Interfaith Forum Reverend Michael Roden thanked the management committee of the Buddhist Cultural Centre for giving such a grand reception with warm welcome and a delicious Sri Lankan dinner. He admired Venerable Akurala Samitha’s contributions to NHIFF as the representative of Buddhist Community. He particularly commended about the meditation and how it could be beneficial. Quoting the Buddhist values, the Chairman emphasized for everyone to be co-operative to established compassionate community rather passionate community.

Finally Prayers and Blessings were offered by different faith leaders to invoke the blessings to Her Majesty the Queen, Country, all the community and all beings. Everyone appreciated the atmosphere created to meet and exchange fellowships and friendliness with Sri Lankan Dinner.
